Langtang trek starts with a trek to Syabrubesi from Kathmandu, a relatively minor village along with
being the initial point of the trek. The trek continues through peaceful riverside scenery and green
hills along with a few of the Tamang villages and Ganesh Himal in between. Trek from Syabrubesi to
Lama Hotel relishes in the serenity of dense forest and Langtang River offering calm atmospheres.
You will pass through regular Tamang villages with prayer flags, Langtang Lirung and Langtang II in
the horizon. You will climb up from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village at 3430 meters above sea level.
The trek is accompanied with stunning scenery of mountains and waterfalls and viewing Buddhist
monasteries and exposure to the local culture. From Langtang Village, the trek continues to Kyanjin
Gompa, religious halt at 3870 meters with alpine views, yak grazing, and also cheese factory visit.
Langtang Lirung, Langtang II, and Langtang Ri stunning view also make it a highlight spot. Day
outing at Kyanjin Gompa provides an option of trek to Tserko Ri for panoramic view or glacier walk.
Interaction with inhabitants of the region and factory tour offer the cultural interaction.
The trek is downhill to Syabrubesi and Lama Hotel, downward trails providing continuously changing
scenery vistas, and oxygen levels rising at a glacial pace. On your return trip from Kathmandu if you
are returning to the mad beat of the city, bid adieu to Langtang Valley’s breathtaking vista as you bid
farewell to such peace and head back to what is otherwise civilization. Be good to your weather and
proper altitude sickness prevention when trekking.
