Everest Base Camp Trek is an experience of a lifetime, where nature, culture, and physical endurance

come together in a mix one cannot help but be a part of. The trek begins with the excitement of a 35-

minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a hill town at an elevation of 2,860 meters (9,383 feet). The

trek starts at Lukla for a 3-4 hour climb to Phakding at 2,610 meters / 8,563 feet of green rolling

country, suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, and the canopy of Buddhist prayer wheels

and stupas. The trek gives the first view of Kusum Kanguru at 6,367 meters, a beautiful great peak

with the mountains to come.

The trek proceeds with pine forest walk, and perspectives of mammoth tall peaks like Everest

(8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Ama Dablam (6,812m) tower over Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286

ft), Sherpa town. Monasteries, museum, and Sherpa tradition are observed here and acclimatization

as well. Trek extends further to Tengboche (3,860 meters / 12,664 ft), renowned monastery and

stunning vista of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. descend Imja Khola valley with beautiful panorama

view of Island Peak and Lhotse to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft), and another acclimatization

second day with buffer day as side trip as viewpoint like Nagarjun Hill or Chhukung Ri.

Ascend Lobuche (4,940 m / 16,207 ft) with early view of Nuptse and Pumori ridges and Khumbu

Glacier. The tour’s highlight is the trek to Gorak Shep (5,170m / 16,961ft) and on to Everest Base

Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft), where visitors get a rather close sight of the Khumbu Icefall and the

historic base camp, fluttered with prayer flags and flanked by monolith peaks such as Everest,

Pumori, and Nuptse. The trek reaches Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft), the trekking summit, and

one is treated to a view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Changtse. On the way back, on the sloping

descent, the trek passes through Sherpas’ villages, the forest, and across the Dudh Koshi River, and

thereby an opportunity is being provided to the trekkers to have their spine-chilling moment.

Spanning a distance of about 130 kilometers, the Everest Base Camp trek is a journey into the core of

the Himalayas with a dash of unspoiled beauty, Sherpa culture, and thrill of high-altitude trekking. It

is a lifetime experience for anyone who wants to reach out towards the marvel of nature and the
