Day 1: Into the East – Kathmandu to Dharan

 

Route: Kathmandu → BP Highway → Koshi Barrage → Dharan
Distance: ~550 km
Drive Time: 10–12 hours

  • Scenic drive along the BP Highway, winding through lush hills and river valleys.
  • Stop at Koshi Barrage, a vital wetland for birdlife and wildlife crossings.
  • Arrive in Dharan, a bustling multicultural city with Rai, Limbu, and Newar influences.

Day 2: Temples and Misty Peaks – Dharan & Bhedetar

 

Route: Dharan → Budha Subba Temple → Dantakali Temple → Bhedetar → Dharan

Day 3: Tea Trails – Dharan to Ilam

 

Route: Dharan → Fikkal → Kanyam → Ilam

Day 4: Sacred Lakes and Sunset Vistas – Ilam to Mai Pokhari

Route: Ilam → Mai Pokhari → Antu Danda → Phidim

Day 8: Terai Tales – Ilam to Janakpur via Dharan

Route: Ilam → Dharan → Itahari → Janakpur
